Explanation: Different population definitions are used by the political entities for 2013 and later: For Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Brčko, the tabulated population figures include citizens living and working abroad for many years. For the Republika Srpska, the usually resident population is tabulated. These figures are about 5% less. Thus, the Bosnia and Herzegovina Agency for Statistics reports (using the first definition) a higher total mid-2019 population: 3.491 millon.
