The total mid-2010 / mid-2015 population of Norwegian settlements was 2,071 / 2,189; the winter population of Ny-Ålesund is about 30.
Up to 225 people commute on a daily or weekly basis from Longyearbyen to Svea. Up to 30 Russian settlers work in Pyramiden maintaining the infrastructure, running a hotel and guiding touristic tours.
