The Outer Islands include (2002 population): Alphonse Atoll (82 inh.), Amirante Islands [with D'Arros Island (85 inh.), Desroches Island (19 inh.), Marie Louise Island (5 inh.), Poivre Islands (5 inh.), and Remire Island (6 inh.)], Assumption Island (7 inh.), Bird Island (37 inh.), Coëtivy Island (252 inh.), Denis Island (78 inh.), Farquhar Atoll (15 inh.), Île Platte (3 inh.), and Providence Atoll (6 inh.).
